**Limestone problem in water:**
Much of the water we use every day is for baths and showers. Heating this water leads to the formation of limescale, which can block pipes and damage appliances. In addition, limescale leaves unsightly stains on tiles and faucets. But this problem can be eliminated!
The devices most vulnerable to limescale deposits are:
- Boilers and water heaters
- Washing machines, dishwashers, coffee makers, shower heads, valves
- All pipes carrying hot water
- Pipe bends and narrowings
**Impact of limestone on energy efficiency:**
Limescale reduces heat transfer, which leads to overheating of the heating elements. Even a layer of only 2 mm of limescale on the heat exchanger can increase energy consumption by about 15%. DELFIN softening systems are tested according to DIN 19636 and are DIN/DVGW certified. Their capacity allows softening of both water for a single-family or multi-family house, as well as partial amounts of water for water heating, swimming pool, washing machines and dishes.
**Mode of operation:**
DELFIN softening systems work in parallel, with two softening columns that ensure a continuous supply of water. While one column is regenerating, the other supplies softened water. Operation and regeneration is done automatically with the help of modern ceramic valves. The regeneration system is pre-programmed, without the need to reprogram it, even after a power failure.
**Installation:**
DELFIN systems can be connected to horizontal or vertical pipes at a height between 870 mm (930 mm for the MEGA model) and 1,450 mm. A 230 V power supply and a sewer connection for the wash water are required. Generally, these systems are installed after the water meter, protective filter and pressure regulator, but before a dosing pump and distributor.
**Automatic operation:**
DELFIN softening systems work completely automatically, requiring only periodic addition of salt. If little or no softened water is consumed, the systems perform a regeneration every four days to maintain hygiene. If salt is not added in time, the system automatically switches to economy mode, using the remaining salt to disinfect the resin and reduce the softening effect. Thus, the hygiene of the system is ensured for a long period.
**Benefits:**
DELFIN systems provide soft water and protect plumbing and water heaters against harmful limescale deposits.
